Brow Lift & Forehead Lift

Brow Lift

Brow Lift

A heavy, drooping forehead and eyebrows (rather than just eyelids) can give a sleepy, tired look that a brow lift in Santa Monica can reverse. Many of these patients are mistakenly treated with a blepharoplasty alone, which takes extra skin from the upper eyelids, still leaving them with their flat, “heavy” eyebrows shadowing their eyes. If these patients are correctly diagnosed preoperatively, they can get a much better cosmetic result from a brow lift, either alone or in combination with blepharoplasty. This is the type of careful analysis and deeper knowledge that allows Dr Massey to guide patients toward the best procedure for them.

WHAT IS A BROW LIFT?

A brow lift, also called a forehead lift, is a cosmetic surgical procedure that smooths away forehead creases, raises your sagging eyebrows, and corrects frown lines. By reducing the deep wrinkles on the forehead and between the eyes, the procedure eliminates that aged, tired look. It can also be combined with other facial cosmetic surgeries to achieve more comprehensive anti-aging results.

IDEAL CANDIDATES FOR A BROW LIFT

You may be an excellent candidate for a brow lift if you are in good overall health, ideally a non-smoker. It is crucial that you have no existing conditions that could get in the way of your healing. Patients need to have realistic goals and a positive outlook as well.

Ideal candidates for a forehead lift are between the ages of 40 and 60. However, younger and older patients also often come in for this procedure.

YOUR CONSULTATION

A physical examination of your forehead and brow area will be performed during your forehead lift consultation. A review of your medical history will be conducted. You will be asked about underlying conditions, current medications, and recent surgeries or treatments. A personalized surgical plan will be developed to address your specific concerns.

THE BROW LIFT PROCEDURE

To ensure that the patient is comfortable during the brow lift procedure, anesthesia will be administered. We avoid general anesthesia for all procedures, instead preferring local anesthesia with sedation. This is the safer option and results in a quicker and more comfortable recovery process.

Next, incisions will be created, providing access to the underlying tissues. The tissues will be altered to achieve the patient’s aesthetic goals. After the desired outcome is achieved, incisions will be closed with sutures. Bandages may be applied afterwards. The whole process can take one to three hours.

BROW LIFT RECOVERY

The recovery time after a brow lift procedure depends on the complexity of the procedure and the exact techniques used. Swelling, bruising, and pain are commonly experienced. Over-the-counter medications can help alleviate these symptoms. Numbness, itching, and tingling may be experienced after several weeks as the healing process progresses.

How Much Does a Brow Lift Cost?

The total cost of Brow Lift surgery is determined based on factors like your medical examinations, surgeon’s fee, hospital charges, post-surgery garments, and anesthesia. The exact techniques used will also impact the overall price, as will the total time needed to perform the surgery.
